GIA'S STORY ABOUT RUBY

Once we had Jade, we knew we wanted a second baby… the question was “when will the right time be?”

My husband left for deployment and as I saw my child grow, I was more and more ready to give her a friend.

Tyler came back from his deployment, and what do you know…. The test popped up pregnant just a few short months after.

We planned to keep this a secret for as long as we could, but then the health issues arrived. I needed an organ removed and our little secret became known. As we faced the unknown with having surgery while pregnant, we were very worried what that meant for the health of our unborn child. We did extensive research, talked to several people and prayed about it. The pain was too unbearable and I was told that if the organ went to total failure, I would emergency surgery, and then I would definitely see an increased chance of harming my child.

Surgery day came and went. I remember hearing baby’s heart beat through a Doppler as I was waking up in the recovery room and relief just took over. The post surgery pain was unbearable, but knowing my child was ok was worth it.

Weeks went by and it was time to find out our gender. And what do you know, it’s a girl!!! My poor husband is now outnumbered!!

We decided on Ruby because

1) it has the 4 letters as our oldest, Jade.

2) we picked Jade because of the meaning, trusting in the abundance of earth. So we went with another little “gemstone” Ruby, meaning promote loving, nurturing, health, knowledge and wealth. It has been associated with improved energy and concentration, creativity, loyalty, honor and compassion.

3) it’s easy for both of our parents to pronounce.

As time gets closer, we are super excited to welcome our second princess to our castle and now know that every Halloween will be special for the rest of our lives!!

Can’t wait to have my little gemstones together!!
